I am the mother of a child with Autism.
My belief, like so many parents with a child who falls under the Spectrum of Autism is that recovery begins within your child. Like most of you who will read this blog, I earned my degree through many sleepless nights of researching and reading books and Articles. I tried out various diets, Traditional therapies, Alternative treatments & numerous supplements.
I learnt from the finest teachers in the Autistic community, The Parents of Autistic children.
I am not a wealthy person but what I lack in dollars, I make up for with determination. I am and was determined to find effective inexpensive ways to change my son’s life.
My child entered early intervention at the age of 17 months old with a cognitive score of a 3 month old. After introducing a new diet, supplements and various alternative treatments six months later at the age of 23 months my son’s cognitive score was of a 15 month old with scattered skills up to a 19 month old and he said his first word “Momma”. My son made a dramatic improvement and has since continued to shine.
This blog is a compilation of Diet, Therapy, Allergy and Alternative treatment Information. I will provide inexpensive treatment ideas along with Gluten Free/Casein Free Diet recipes. I will also post various website links to the best supplements, Allergy foods as well as additional information regarding treatments you can do at home with your child to further their development.
I will go into detail from a mothers perspective about individual therapies such as Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, ABA and Floor time just to name a few. I will provide a list of education reading as well as a list of toys and therapy tools. I am happy to answer any questions you may have also. All of information provided helped me with my son recovery.
